The filters describe how a plant grows and what it offers. Edible flags plants with edible parts, USDA zone limits results to your hardiness range, native state shows plants native to a chosen state, invasive flags species that can spread aggressively, forest layer describes where a plant sits in a food forest, and water needs indicates how much moisture it wants. You can combine filters to focus on plants that fit your site.

When you set your location, Aproplant infers your climate and shows how well each plant fits your site. It surfaces the data dimensions that matter most for your climate, so drought tolerance is emphasized in a Mediterranean climate but matters less in the tropics. The goal is to highlight the traits that actually affect whether a plant will thrive where you are.

How do I set my location?

Enter your location when prompted and Aproplant uses it to infer your climate. From there the plant catalog and plant detail pages can show how well each plant fits your site.

Is the fit score a guarantee?

Accepted Answer

No. The fit guidance is advisory and informational, meant as a helpful starting point rather than a guarantee. It is not professional agronomic advice. Local conditions like soil, microclimate, and care all affect real results, so treat the fit as one input into your own judgment.

Why does it highlight different traits for me?

Because the traits that matter depend on your climate. Aproplant surfaces the dimensions most relevant to where you garden, so two people in different climates can see different characteristics emphasized for the same plant. This keeps the most decision-relevant information in front of you.

How do I save plants?

Sign in to your account and build curated plant lists. You can add plants to a list as you browse the catalog, then revisit and refine that list any time.

Yes. Any list can be shared as a public presentation page at /presents with its share link. Anyone who has the link can view it, and no login is needed to view a shared page, so it works well for client-facing presentations.

Only people who have the share link. A shared presentation page is not listed publicly or indexed as your account, so it stays private unless you send the link to someone.

Yes. Within a list you can add notes to plants and set the order of items, so you can organize a palette the way you want it to read on the presentation page.

How do I sign up or sign in?

You sign up and sign in with your email address through Supabase Auth. Create an account with your email, then use it to sign in and access your saved lists.

Use the forgot-password option on the sign-in page. Aproplant will send a reset link to your email so you can set a new password and sign back in.
